This business was left in the lurch with a previous commercial solar installer where they had begun the installation, but they were not able to return and complete. The customer needed the solar installation looked at to work out what was remaining and to complete with full certification. What was the solution?
After an onsite assessment it became clear the existing connections made from the panels were incorrect which meant the selected inverter would not operate. The routes of DC cabling needed redoing for safety and protection. Extra routes were required to reduce the voltage from the array strings. We provided a full string test to confirm new voltage levels and compatibility with the inverter.
The inverter was also installed with the correct metering and surge protection device for compliance. The inspection at the Exmouth car wash facility revealed several issues that needed immediate attention to ensure safe and efficient system operation, particularly given the wet environment of the car wash business.
What was the result?
After months of waiting on the previous installer we managed to complete this system for the client within 3 days, liaising with the National Grid to register the system including the export requirements for the network. We also provided the customer with all their manufacture warranties in their complete handover pack. The system is now fully operational with full certification allowing the customer to get paid for excess energy generated and look forward to reduced energy bills for the business.
