Solar Battery Storage Systems
Trusted, expert solar battery storage solutions for your property.
Transform Your Energy Use With Solar Battery Storage
Solar storage batteries are an essential part of any solar power system, allowing you to store excess energy generated during the day for use when the sun isn’t shining. Whether you’re looking to reduce your electricity bills or achieve greater energy independence, integrating battery storage into your solar panel setup is key to getting the most from your investment.
With an emphasis on renewable energy storage, we facilitate efficient solar panel battery integration, allowing you to capture excess energy generated during the day for use when you need it most. We pride ourselves on providing clear advice, reliable products, and solar battery storage solutions at competitive prices.

AC Coupled and DC Coupled Inverters – What’s Right for You?
When it comes to solar energy battery storage, understanding the difference between AC and DC coupled inverters can help you make the most efficient choice for your solar panel system.
Choosing between AC and DC coupled inverters depends on your specific needs and the setup of your existing solar system. If you already have solar panels and are looking to add solar electric battery storage, an AC coupled inverter might be the most practical option. However, if you’re installing a new system or want to achieve the highest efficiency, a DC coupled solution could be more suitable.
Our knowledgeable team will discuss the different solar storage batteries available in more detail upon your enquiry.
AC Coupled Solar Storage
Requires a separate inverter for your both your solar panels and batteries.
PROS
- Flexible locations are achievable as batteries operate best at room temperature and inverters work better in cooler environments.
- Any Battery faults won’t affect the Solar Panel array or the other way round.
- Any Solar Panel System is compatible.
- You get the combined power from battery and panel inverters.
CONS
- Approx. 3% less efficient than DC
- Higher installation costs due to additional inverters and wiring

DC Coupled Solar Storage
With this system, the solar storage battery and solar panels share the same inverter.
PROS
- More efficient power transfer than AC by up to 3%
- Cheaper installation and both the Solar Panels and Solar Storage Battery share the same inverter.
CONS
- Limited access to power
- If the inverter fails in the future there may not be a compatible version for your battery which would mean buying again.
- The battery must be installed next to the inverter and with both preferring different operating temperatures you will be trading some efficiency for cost.

Frequently Asked Questions
As standard a grid tied battery storage system will not operate during a power cut. This is because the system requires the grid to be live for the system to work. However, with additional work most battery systems have the ability for EPS (Emergency Power Supply) which will allow the system to switch modes in the event of a power cut and supply power to either dedicated loads or full house back up. If this is something of interest, then we can design the best system to meet your requirements.
Nope, they will still produce power in low level light conditions however you will see a dramatic increase in production when the sun is shining. A clear, cool, bright day is usually the best conditions for Solar Panels.
Most Solar Battery Systems only deliver 800w of power which is no good if you want a cup of tea (your kettle needs 2000 watts) or use your electric shower (your shower will need over 8000 watts). Also, if you’re generating 7kW but the battery can only take on 4kW then 3kW will be heading off to the grid in turn wasting the free energy your Solar PV System has generated. So, in summary it is paramount that the power output is checked before you buy any Solar Storage System, otherwise, you will find yourself still drawing a lot of energy from the grid even though you still have energy in your battery.
Like with your Solar PV, your current electrical demands, future demands, and your desires for the system effect the answer. Most people want black out protection and to not waste the free energy they are producing during the day to use in an evening. If your system is large enough a larger battery can keep the house powered and help charge your electrical vehicle overnight. Grid trading is also a favourable by-product of a larger solar battery storage system as this means more charging on cheap rate and more to sell back to the grid at peak rate. Our team of specialists will model everything to help you make the right decision for you.
Most Solar Battery Storage systems are designed just for storage. However, some can offer full power cut backup capabilities to provide power. The main two things to consider here are. If this is an essential part of the system for you let us know and we can even carry out the splitting of the essential circuits with our in-house NICEIC Approved electricians.
A solar battery storage cycle is one full charge and one full discharge. However, in the real-world it doesn’t actually happen like that. Solar Battery Storage may only discharge 25%, then recharge 25%. This would be 25% of a cycle. It’s important you know how many cycles your solar battery storage system is warrantied for as only then can you see how many kWhs (units of electric) your system will delivery over its warrantied lifetime.
