What were they trying to resolve:

Our client was looking into ways to reduce their energy spend and at the same time reduce their carbon footprint. Upon a technical survey we established the requirements from their energy data and available roof space for commercial solar installation whilst keeping in mind to avoid obstacles on the roof including avoiding the existing skylights to allow the natural light the enter the premise.

What was the solution?

We designed a bespoke solar panel system perfectly tailored to maximise energy generation from the building’s advantageous south-facing roof orientation. Our engineering team planned the layout to navigate around existing skylights, ensuring they remained completely unobstructed while maintaining optimal panel placement. We also incorporated panel breaks in symmetrical positions to navigate around the existing flues.

For mounting, we selected a premium speed rail system that offers multiple benefits. This solution maintains a low profile, keeping the panels positioned close to the roof surface for a sleek, integrated look. The system also provides concealed cable routing channels beneath the entire array, eliminating unsightly exposed wiring while protecting the electrical components from weather exposure and potential damage.

What was the result?

Our client received 50KW of panels on the south aspect of the roof via our Exeter solar panel installation, to provide generation across the whole day with an external mounted inverter system on the north side of the building using IP rated equipment. The installation allowed for minimal disruption to day-to-day activities and reduced cable runs back to their main supply. The system has already supplied over 56% of their consumption cutting their bill in half which will only improve as we head towards summer.
