What were they trying to resolve:

With the newly acquired Deer Park Care Home, extensive renovations were taking place. Due to the nature of their services the building will sustain a heavy electrical load once operational. Coupling this with the large mostly south facing roof areas, a large solar pv system ticked all the boxes.

What was the solution?

After the technical survey it was clear we could install a large solar array across 4 different roof sections to maximise the system output whilst staying within the DNO requirements. As the roof was fitted with Hardrow concrete slates this became an added challenge to install to. Given their particular design and mounting method, it fell between 2 different solar mounting options.

What was the result?

After we removed the 2 of the front roof dormers which were in a state of disrepair and causing leaks. This gave us the additional room to install 168 440W all black panels over the 4 targeted roofs. This involved over 500 mounting hooks to be installed using a bespoke flashing kit the maintain the waterproofing of the roof. The labour-intensive work took under 2 weeks to complete including all the panels mounted, internal tray work for multiple DC strings and all AC connections from the main supply to their new 60KW 3 phase inverter with online monitoring. The system has produced over 73MW of energy since installation giving a huge reduction in their energy costs.
