What they needed
International Dance Supplies required a full EICR across their Newton Abbot premises, covering 198 circuits across the warehouse, dispatch, office, and welfare areas of the site. As a growing international business with a fast-paced operational environment, maintaining compliance documentation for their electrical installation is part of their wider regulatory and insurance obligations.
The inspection needed to be planned to work around the distribution operation, particularly avoiding disruption to the same-day dispatch function during peak order fulfilment windows. The report needed to produce a complete circuit-by-circuit record of the installation condition and a NICEIC-certified certificate suitable for IDS’s compliance records.
What the inspection involved
Andy Bradbury from M&E Contrax co-ordinated the inspection schedule with the IDS operations team to ensure that circuits could be de-energised for testing without disrupting the active distribution operation. The 198-circuit scope covered all areas of the Silverhills Road site, from the main intake and primary distribution boards through to lighting, power, and specialist circuits serving warehouse equipment, packing machinery, office systems, and welfare facilities.

What we found
The installation at Silverhills Road was assessed across all 198 circuits. IDS operate a well-maintained facility and the inspection reflected this, with the installation in generally good condition across the majority of the site. The EICR report documented all findings with clear circuit-by-circuit records.
In a distribution facility that has grown and adapted over time, some areas of the installation showed the typical characteristics of incremental additions and modifications: circuits that had been extended, areas where additional sockets or distribution had been added to serve operational needs as they evolved. These were assessed and classified in the report, with recommendations where improvements were identified.
The report gave IDS a clear picture of the current condition of their installation, a full record of all 198 circuits, and a prioritised list of any recommended improvements based on the classification of each finding.
The result
On completion, International Dance Supplies received their full 198-circuit EICR report and NICEIC certificate from M&E Contrax. The certificate provides IDS with the compliance documentation required for their insurers and gives them a comprehensive baseline record of their Silverhills Road electrical installation.
The inspection was completed without disruption to their same-day dispatch operation.
