What were they trying to resolve:
After the success of their first solar panel installation at the Golf Shop Online in Exeter, the client decided to continue their green energy push to their headquarters in High Wycombe. They were hoping to offset as much of their energy usage from their office building to become more energy independent. As a leading online retailer of golfing equipment, Golf Shop Online has demonstrated a growing commitment to sustainability across their operations. The client was particularly keen to build on the positive results from their Exeter solar installation, where they had already seen a marked reduction in energy costs.
This second phase of their renewable energy strategy aligned perfectly with their corporate social responsibility goals and their desire to promote environmentally conscious business practices within the golfing retail sector.

What was the solution?
This building had a vast flat EDPM roof covering making it a perfect candidate for the Esdec fast fix fusion mounting system. By using the Esdec configurator tool we were able to design a south facing flat roof system using strategically placed ballast to remove the need for any roof penetrations.
Our solar installation team strategically positioned the inverter to take advantage of pre-existing electrical conduits and infrastructure. By carefully mapping out the building’s electrical architecture, we were able to utilise established routes down to the main supply panel.
What was the result?
Following the Esdec design we mounted 131 455W high output panels across three arrays on the flat roof. We used 936 of the Esdec wave blocks throughout the array to secure the arrays down. We also included the rear and lateral wind deflector panels to allow for optimum wind resistance. The inverter was mounted on the roof on the northside of the roof access to avoid UV damage and to eliminate running DC cables down into the building. The system has multiple points of isolation for the clients benefit and online monitoring to keep track of the systems performance. This was an exciting installation to undertake which only took 3 and half days to complete thanks to the revolutionary design of the mounting system.
