Ground-Mounted Solar PV & Battery Storage in Braunton

Client Private homeowner
Industry Residential
Location Braunton, Devon
Completed October 2025

The challenge

This Braunton homeowner wanted solar and battery storage, but there was no suitable space on the roof for panels. To make solar work, the system would have to go somewhere else on the property and still generate enough to make a real difference to their bills.

Services provided

  • Technical survey
  • Online monitoring system
  • Solarport A-frame ground mount system
  • High-powered 635W panels
  • Heated battery storage
  • DC electrical connections
  • AC electrical connections
  • Full design and DNO consultation
  • NICEIC certification
  • Armoured garden cable run

Our solution

We used an existing concrete hard standing at the rear of the garden as the base for a ground-mounted array. A Solarport A-frame system was bolted directly to the concrete, and we fitted super high-power 635W JA panels to get as much generation as possible from the space available.

An armoured cable run takes the power from the rear of the garden back to the cut-out at the house. Because the battery is installed outdoors, we specified heated battery storage with a built-in heating element to keep it working efficiently through colder weather, and the customer received a free upgrade from the EP11 to the newer EP12 battery.

As always, we handled everything in-house, from the technical survey, full design and DNO consultation through to the DC and AC electrical connections, online monitoring and NICEIC certification.

The result

Despite having no usable roof space, the homeowner now has a high-output solar and battery system tucked away at the end of the garden, with estimated annual bill savings of £1,270.
