Torquay Golf Club was looking at ways to reduce ongoing operational costs. Due to energy prices changing, reducing the electrical consumption was high on the priority list. The club wanted to look for sustainable ways to benefit their eco credentials (with support from many of their members), as well as their energy bills. Our solution
As experts in solar panels Torquay, we designed a Solar PV system that perfectly balances both functionality with aesthetic appeal. Understanding the unique requirements of the location, we designed a commercial solar panel installation that would be visually appealing to both members and visiting golfers while maximising energy production.
We also split the panel strings to help boost the efficiency of the system from localised shading and installed a hybrid inverter, with potential to add solar battery storage at a later date if required.
The result
The system is already yielding a 73% self sufficiency rate which is great news for the club and the goals that were set out. Also by having the system installed with usage monitoring, it has confirmed the effectiveness of complementary energy-saving initiatives, such as the strategic off-peak charging schedule implemented for the club’s golf buggy fleet. Moreover, the detailed monitoring capabilities have enabled staff to identify additional optimisation opportunities, creating a culture of energy awareness throughout club operations.
